Çanakkale Province (Turkish: Çanakkale ili) is a province of Turkey, located in the northwestern part of the country. It takes its name from the city of Çanakkale.

Like Istanbul, Çanakkale province has a European (Thrace) and an Asian (Anatolia) part. The European part is formed by the Gallipoli (Gelibolu) peninsula, while the Asian part is largely coterminous with the historic region of Troad in Anatolia. They are separated by the Dardanelles strait, connecting the Sea of Marmara and the Aegean Sea.

The archaeological site of Troy is found in Çanakkale province.

Çanakkale is the biggest district of the province. The European and Asian parts of the province were connected to each other with the completion of the Çanakkale 1915 Bridge in March 2022.

Troy Ancient City - known as the setting for the Greek myth of the Trojan War. The story of the war between the ancient Greeks and the Trojans in "Homer's Epic", "Trojan Horse Massacre", took place here. The city of Troy, always considered a legendary place, was not rediscovered until the end of the 19th century. With more than 4,000 years of history, it has become one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world and is listed by the United Nations as a World Heritage Site.

The city of Troy, which existed over 4000 years, is known as the center of ancient civilizations. For many years, it was believed that the city was only in stories until it was found. It is also called Ilion or, in Latin, Ilium and is the site, almost universally accepted as the mound now named Hissarlik, in Turkey. One of the greatest and oldest works of literature, Homers' 'Iliad' was thoguth to have occurred at Troy. Troy is where the Trojan War occurred, indicated that the seventh level was the Troy of Homer’s period.” The civilization of the Trojans dates all the way back to the bronze age.

The Trojan Horse was a wooden horse said to have been used by the Greeks during the Trojan War to enter the city of Troy and win the war. The Trojan Horse is not mentioned in Homer's Iliad, with the poem ending before the war is concluded, and it is only briefly mentioned in the Odyssey. But in the Aeneid by Virgil, after a fruitless 10-year siege, the Greeks constructed a huge wooden horse at the behest of Odysseus, and hid a select force of men inside, including Odysseus himself. The Greeks pretended to sail away, and the Trojans pulled the horse into their city as a victory trophy. That night, the Greek force crept out of the horse and opened the gates for the rest of the Greek army, which had sailed back under cover of darkness. The Greeks entered and destroyed the city, ending the war.

Metaphorically, a "Trojan horse" has come to mean any trick or stratagem that causes a target to invite a foe into a securely protected bastion or place. A malicious computer program that tricks users into willingly running it is also called a "Trojan horse" or simply a "Trojan".
